Today, a brutal war of aggression is raging in the heart of Europe. Back in 2014, the Russian Federation invaded the territory of Ukraine, annexed the Crimean Peninsula in violation of international law, and, using the tactics of hybrid warfare, captured part of the Donbass region. For more than 8 years, fierce fighting has been going on in the east of Ukraine, which has led to significant contamination of the territory along the demarcation line with mines and other explosive objects. International humanitarian demining organizations came to the aid of the Ukrainian people, but according to forecasts for 2021, the demining process was supposed to last more than 5 years.

But, currently, hostilities continue, and therefore every day significantly increases the territory of Ukraine that needs demining. It is almost equal in size to three territories of Switzerland. International humanitarian organizations are already deploying additional demining missions on the territory of Ukraine, but at the same time they claim that their help will not be enough and the process may last several decades.
